Once you get married abroad, your wedding will be legally bound but the marriage will be registered in the country where your wedding took place. The marriage certificate can sometimes be supplied to you before you leave, but in some destinations it can take a few months before it is sent to you. The following are some of the documents you may be asked yo supply - usually you will need to send copies in advance: - Birth Certificates
- Valid 10 year passport
- Affidavid/Statutory declaration confirming single status
- Former spouses death certificate (if you are widowed)
- Decree absolute (if you are divorced)
- Parental consent if you are under the ages of 18 or 21
- If you have changed you name legal proof stamped and signed by a solicitor
- If you are adpoted, an adoption certificate will be required.
Some countries have rules about residency before you marry. Most destinations will require that you are resident between 1-5 days before you can get married. For further details on legal requirements, contact our office on 051-872881 or weddings@strandtravel.com
