Tenerife is the largest of the seven Canary Islands. It enjoys year round sunshine and warm temperatures, making Tenerife one of Ireland's favourite holiday destinations. The island has a great variety of scenery and is full of stark contrasts, from the golden sandy beaches of the south, the lush green north, to the lunar landscape of the Mount Teide national park. Mount Teide is the largest mountain in Spain and a dormant volcano. Views of the peak can be seen from many of the resorts on the island. Tenerife’s beaches are a mixture of black volcanic sand and imported golden sand. The beaches are dotted mainly around the tourist resorts and typically offer showering facilities, sun beds, parasols, a variety of water sports and snack bars, restaurants either nearby or on the beach itself.
