Holidays to Costa Teguise bring you sandy beaches, great windsurfing and lots of activities for the kids. Even the King of Spain’s a fan.
An all-rounder of a beach destination
Set on Lanzarote’s south-east corner, Costa Teguise is a purpose-built resort that sprang up in the Seventies. Back then it drew crowds of wealthy Spaniards – and it must be doing something right because the King of Spain still has a bolthole here. It’s not just popular with the royals, though. With the friendly vibe and a line-up of sandy beaches, families give this place the thumbs-up, too.
A beach quintet
Costa Teguise has 5 sandy beaches. They’re linked by a promenade that’s lined with shops and restaurants. One of the most popular places for families is Playa del Jablillo – it’s protected from the island’s breeze and has calm, shallow waters. A windier spot is Playa Cucharas, which plays to the windsurfers. And Playa Bastian with its exotic palms – well, that just looks pretty.
A family-friendly resort
Families get a big welcome in Costa Teguise. The bigger beaches have kids’ activity parks – and at Playa Bastian you’ve also got a soft-play area and bowling alley. Away from the sand, there’s a big waterpark here. It has all the usual suspects like the Kamikaze and Spiral, plus a children’s lake with rides. As for eating, many restaurants let kids eat free in the early evening.
Close to Arrecife
Fifteen minutes and you’re in Lanzarote’s cosmopolitan capital, Arrecife. On the shopping front, its cobbled streets are lined with high-end stores and one-off boutiques. You’ve also got a couple of museums and a duo of forts to root around. After that lot, you might just want to relax over a cold beer by the town’s lagoon.
