San Agustin holidays land you in a sleepy residential resort, with a cosmopolitan capital close to hand.
Sleepy San Agustin
This place is Palma’s right-hand man. It sits on the western shoulder of the Majorcan capital, just 15 minutes’ drive from its centre. And, since this Balearic Island’s so small, that’s not San Agustin’s only neighbour. It’s just 10 minutes’ drive to A-list Portals Nous, or a further five to even livelier Palma Nova and Magaluf. Wherever you go, you’ve always got a quiet base to retreat back to.
Close to the capital
San Agustin – sometimes called Sant Agusti – is basically an extension of Palma itself, so it’s easy to reach the capital’s top sights. You’ll reach the first one within 10 minutes’ drive – the hilltop Castell de Bellver, which is the only round castle in Spain. And once you reach the city centre, the sights are around every corner. You’ve got museums, palaces and that hard-to-miss Gothic cathedral.
Nearby beaches
Because it’s only tiny, San Agustin doesn’t have a beach of its own. But there’s no shortage of stretches nearby. One of the easiest to reach is in Cala Mayor, just 15 minutes’ stroll around the headland. At the other end of the town, meanwhile, you’ve got Port Calanova – a marina that’s home to one of Majorca’s best sailing schools.
