(GW 09/2013) ## Location On the banks of the River Liffey just a stone's throw from the famous Ha'Penny Bridge in the heart of Dublin, the Clarence is located within a short walking distance of a myriad of Dublin city experiences to suit all tastes: from Michelin star Irish restaurants to cool indie coffeebars; big brand shopping on Grafton Street to cutting edge Irish designwear around Temple Bar, George?s Street and South William Street; theatres such as the world famous Abbey as well as contemporary venues such as the Project Arts Centre and the New Theatre. They have been individually designed to provide accommodation that is simple, elegant and refined. Standard features include Shaker-style furniture and specially crafted beds with luxurious cotton linens, Hairdryer, Toiletries, Flat screen TV, WiFi, 2 telephone lines, voice mail facility and Private Bar. ## Restaurant Cleaver East is a brand new restaurant situated on the ground floor, in the space which was formerly The Tea Rooms restaurant. Cleaver brings a unique twist on modern Irish food in a wonderful newly designed dining space offering inventive, delicious, locally sourced food. The Octagon Bar is at the heart of the hotel, a beautiful room situated in the exact same space as the original hotel bar, and with an octagon shaped dome rising high above the central bar. Additionally, the Back Bar boasts many original features including the stunning Art Deco floor, the windows and the original hotel clock that sits proudly over the open fireplace. ## Exterior This is a traditional building built in 1852. Bought in 1992 by two members of the famous rock band U2 (Bono and The Edge), the hotel underwent a complete restoration and refurbishment program and was been transformed into a luxury hotel. ## Lobby The lobby of the hotel is small and maintains many of the property's original features such as stone floors and wood panels. Adjoining the lobby there is a study room with extensive seating area, arts-and-crafts style windows with original glass and oak panelling giving the room a warm feel.
