Extremely well rated on many online travel review sites, the 4* Canal Grande Hotel (opened in 2009) invites guests to experience an ambience and style that combines traditional Venetian decor and furnishings with state-of-the art technology and amenitites (such as flat screen TV's hidden in the mirrors!). Taking its name from the Grand Canal that it faces, the hotel also overlooks a typical Venetian campiello allowing guests to reach the hotel either by water taxi or gondola, or on foot directly from Piazzale Roma bus terminal or Santa Lucia train station. Words cannot do justice to the effort, attention to detail and overall care taken in restoring this historic palazzo, know locally as Ca' Polacco. Suffice it to say that the 4* Canal Grande Hotel is a charming boutique-style property housed in a small yet elegant palace that is characterised by the elegance of Rococo styling, typical of 18th century Venice. Oh! And let's not forget the small terrace literally on the Grand Canal where guests can either enjoy a Bellini or a spritz, or failing that, simply breakfast.
